KB Barrett
K.B Barrett lives on the Southern Oregon Coast with her wonderful husband and three kids. Her love of books started early, due to her grandmother who was an avid reader and encouraged her to love all books. Eventually, she had too many ideas and so she started writing her own. She loves writing books that are complicated, full of suspense, but ones that always come with a happily ever after. When she isn’t writing, she loves going camping with her family, traveling to new destinations, and enjoying coffee in one of her many colorful mugs.

Q&A with the Author
Q: Can you tell me a bit about yourself and how became an author?
A: I’ve always loved writing, but it wasn’t until after my grandmother passed that my husband pushed me into actually publishing. I wish she would have been around to see me become an author, she would have gotten a kick out of it, but I know she is proud of me. I never saw it really going anywhere, after all it’s just a hobby, but my husband always had faith in me and loves to rub it in that he was right! Now it’s more than just a hobby, but I still treat the writing aspect of it that way. Something to love. Something to escape to. Something that allows me to relax and go somewhere else. I love it.
Q: What is your writing process like?
A: Ha! So first off I have kids and a full-time job as a designer, so basically it’s whenever I can find the time! I do try and get up early every morning and get at least a few words in! Luckily I write really fast! I can easily do seventy thousand in a week. (that is when my kids aren’t around!)
Q: What do you like to do when you are not writing?
A: My husband and I love the outdoors. Hiking, camping, canoeing. You name it we love doing it. Or kids have really started to enjoy it as well!
Q: How do you celebrate when you are finished writing a book?
A: I love to just enjoy time with my family. It’s like a little mental vacation from something that I pour a lot of emotion into.
Q: How do you celebrate when your books are released?
A: My hubby always takes me out on dates! It’s his way of saying how proud he is of me, (and a little of that rubbing it in!)
Q: Can you tell me how the book/series came about?
A: So this series is actually really special to me. We lived in West Virginia where this is based and I loved it. I was really sad when we had to go, but writing this series has helped cope with that.
Q: Are any of your characters similar to real-life friends or family?
A: I’ll never tell! ;)
Q: What was the most challenging part of writing this book?
A: Honestly the kissing. Smexy times. Check. Emotion. Check. Plot. Check. Kissing. Um…. There are only so many ways you can write lips. LOL
Q: What part of writing this book was the most fun for you?
A: The scenery. I love writing about the area purely because it’s like I'm back there myself.
Q: What Authors or other Books have inspired you to write this book?
A: Too many to count, but Deneny Perry and Kristen Ashley and their books are always a great inspiration to me for this series because of how they built their stories around their own towns.
Q: What is your favorite passage from this book?
A: I have alot, purely because the hero in this book sets out to save the heroine, no questions asked. It reminds me of my husband and how he never stops trying to save me.
But this one always sticks out more than others.
“There was something about her and whatever it was… well it damn sure made her mine.
Possessive.
Sure.
Crazy.
Probably.
But it sure as shit was the truth.”
Q: If you could meet any of your characters, who would it be and what would you say to them?
A: Oh! That’s hard, but Tracey! Definitely Tracy! She is in all the Mountain Roads Novels, and she is the inspiration from a great friend of mine that passed away a few years back. Right down to her sassy say it like it is!
