Overall Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This review will have reviews of all three books in the trilogy, and then a review of the series as a whole. So grab a drink, because this may be a bit longer than my normal two-minute read!
My fated mate rejected me. Now supernaturals are being murdered, and I’ve been kidnapped to help find the killer.
I’m Zenna, a hybrid witch-fae who was cast out from my home. The Triple Moon wolf pack have mated with my coven for generations. But the alpha, my fated mate, didn’t want anything to do with me and my freakish psychic abilities.
Five years after I was rejected, a witch is murdered in my neighbourhood. Against my roommate’s better judgment, I need to find out why.
I’m sick of using my visions to entertain patrons at the bar. This time, there’s a real-life freaking serial killer out there, and they’re hunting witches. I take that personally.
When my fated mate, Mordecai, shows up in town, full of arrogant swagger, demanding that I use my abilities to solve a murder in his own pack, I refuse.
So he shoves me in his car. End of conversation.
His father has been murdered, and I’m going to help, whether I like it or not, using the very powers he rejected me for.
Yeah, I should have maced him on sight.
When my fated mate abducted me, I thought that was bad—I was wrong. This is worse.
I’m being held captive underground by the Origin vampire, Drusilla. I’ve tried my whole life to stay away from these vicious bloodsuckers. They only care about themselves.
And that’s the only reason I’m still alive.
They plan to use me. How, exactly, I’m not sure yet.
The murders were just the beginning. All four bloodlines of those who killed the Origins are in danger. But Drusilla’s eyes are on a much bigger prize. And I need to figure out what it is, before I get myself killed, before Mordecai comes to rescue me.
I know, that doesn’t sound like him. Coming back for me. But through our bond, we can now communicate. I can’t change his mind, but he’s walking into a trap.
The only chance I have to get the hell out of here is by unlocking my faerie powers. I have a delicate game to play.
The heart of it is this: I have to finally accept all of myself, both sides.
Cai and I finally mate. He’s claimed and marked me as his own. Seriously, I still have his bite on my ass.
Am I worthy of being a Beta?
Callen, a vampire we abducted, warns us of Drusilla. The Mother of Vampires, determined to wreak havoc in an attempt to reign over the Origins.
What if the remaining three align with us?
There’s no avoiding the coming war between the four oldest supernaturals on earth. If we can find and recruit the others, we could win.
In the meantime, I have finally been accepted by my mate, but five years of hell and rejection don’t just disappear.
Can I truly trust him?
If you start this and want to DNF it, please don’t. I promise it gets better. I had actually read a review that said she almost did and was glad that she didn’t, so proceeded on.
When it first started Zenna’s (the MC) thoughts were really scattered, short, and choppy - almost as if they were added as an afterthought. But once the story gets going then it stops and it really does get good. I was thoroughly sucked in between 6-10%.. Mind you, I am reading the full trilogy and not just the first book - so if you are reading just the singular book then it may be further in.
Anyways, Zenna was “kidnapped” by her fated mate who had rejected her five years ago. I use the term kidnapped loosely as I know that it is a trigger for some. She was coerced by Mordecai (whose name I love btw) to come with him to help him solve a few murders, one specific that affected him greatly.
I don’t want to give the meat of this story or what happens, but it actually gets pretty intense and then ends on a cliffhanger. BUT the good news is, the trilogy is finished. This is also why I am reading the trilogy as a whole. It is on Kindle Unlimited as a whole in case you were curious!
Like I had said above, the beginning did start out choppy and scattered, but otherwise, it wasn’t. The story itself is fantastic. Witches, Vamps, Fae, and Werewolves… I mean how much better could it get?!! Assuming this specific book is her debut novel, this is quite fantastic, and I look forward to continuing through the trilogy!
So the beginning of this book was much better than the beginning of the first one. Everything was complete, and nothing seemed like it was just thrown in there. We find out in this book that the Origins are alive, and Zenna yet again manages to get herself kidnapped. This one is much more kidnapped than the first one. So maybe if you have a kidnapping trigger, not read this. However, everyone's triggers present differently - so that is entirely up to you.
In Captive Hybrid, Zenna learns more about herself internally and a bit externally. She comes to learn more about how Vampires work since she’s never really mingled with one in the past. I also feel like there were a few hints on what to expect in the next/last book of the trilogy too, so I look forward to seeing if I am correct in my assumptions here.
In all, it was written very well - and again, I am very glad that the next book is just a page away because I do not want to have to wait to read what comes next. It does not exactly end on a cliffhanger, but with the information, we are given at the end, I am definitely curious about what comes next.
This is the final book in the series, and I do feel that there was something missing but I can’t put my finger on it. I guess maybe I would’ve liked to have seen a little more come of the Epilogue, maybe learned what happened to a few others that were mentioned at the beginning of the book.
Whereas the first two books were very slow burn, there was a lot more sexy time here in this story - and it does not disappoint! It was detailed to a point, not where it makes it erotic, but where it makes it more… Two people getting to know each other and what they like. Sweet even, you could say.
As for what I thought about the hints I mentioned in the last book, I was slightly on point, but not completely. I will not reveal what they are thought as I do not want to spoil it for you.
Triple Moon Pack Series
The series as a whole was really good and well thought out. I would love to see an add-on from this series, maybe in the future but from another couple. The world has been built already - why not grow from there?
I really enjoyed watching Zenna’s personal growth, and the growth between Zenna and Mordecai. Also, seeing the growth of Mordecai through this was nice too. At first, he was an ass but then turns into a gentle wolf.
I do look forward to seeing what else Robyn will write for her readers next. She has so much potential and I look forward to following her journey.
If you are looking for a good finished series to read, I suggest reading this. Just remember there could be a trigger of kidnapping in the first two books.
