They say the road to hell is paved with good intentions. I’m learning that lesson the hard way. My name’s Aubry Brooks, and here’s the thing—I’ve got myself a little possession problem.
Yes, I lead a séance I had no business leading in the first place. No, I’m not a channeler of spirit, but let me explain. I was only trying to help a mother find her missing daughter, and then a cocky half-incubus had the nerve to possess me! You’d think a clairvoyant kitchen witch would have seen this coming.
No need to panic. I can figure out a way to exorcise Damion Blackmon, assuming I can withstand his seduction in the meantime. Oh, and he’s agreed to help me find out who killed my best friend. Deals with devils. I'm not sure if it's my soul or my heart that's at risk.
But don’t worry, my grandma was a voyeur in a past life and she'll catch you up to speed. In extremely graphic detail. A word of warning—do not let my aunt talk you into a juice cleanse. Nothing magic about that, I promise.
Welcome to the metaphysical shop Memphis Magic.
Author's Note: Possession is book 1 of the Memphis Magic series. If you like witches and demons; forced proximity with a twist; quirky characters; laugh out loud moments; mystery; smoking hot slow burn; steam; grumpy cat; and even grumpier police detective, then this series is for you. And you don't even have to sell your soul to read it.
Dear readers! Do not let the fact that this is the first in an unfinished series delay you from reading this fantastic story. I can promise that it does not end in a cliffhanger. Although, I will forewarn you NOT to read the beginning of the next book that is so conveniently placed in the back matter of this book! This is a book that I did not want to put down last night, but I have kids - and that always leads to an early morning for me, regardless of the day.
This story is another first for me, and I have read plenty of books. But a possession and falling in love or lust, with the entity possessing the main character, is new. This was recommended to me by a friend, and when I had read the blurb I was immediately intrigued. A Witch, Aubry, was possessed by a demon during a seance that she had no business running. But unbeknownst to her there were other things at play in her life and viola, enter Damion, a funny, potentially sexy demon with aquamarine eyes.
This story was very well written with no plot holes at all. Andrea Hagan had quite a few pieces going on in this story and she did not forget to close any of them. Though, I will say I was definitely caught off guard and thought, "Didn't see that coming!".
There were a few spicy scenes, and you may wonder how it is possible... But in the Fantasy and Paranormal realm of genres, anything is possible!
I highly suggest you start this book/series now, even if the next book in the series does not come out until September. The fact that it doesn't have a cliffhanger certainly helps me say this!
