As Rowan’s Ascension Day draws closer, the dreams she’s been having of a handsome, mysterious man she met long ago become more vivid. However, finding out that her mate is a vampire is more than she can cope with and new fears arise as she contemplates the unknown. Demetri has been linked to her since she was a child and has been watching over her from afar, unable to get closer until she draws near her ascension. Once he realizes the danger she and her family are in from the past, wild horses couldn’t drag him away and he finds himself drawn into the preparations to protect not only the chosen ones, but also the rest of the coven, against what is coming. Will they manage to forge an unbreakable bond despite their differences? Or will the past rush in and destroy what should be? This story picks up where book 1; Rise of the Raven leaves off. You may be confused about the plots and story line if you do not read the first. Highly recommend you start at the beginning.
So I have to admit, I loved this story more than the first one in the series. Like I said before, the first one felt rushed, whereas this one flows perfectly in timing. It was easy to read and I went through in a matter of hours!
In this book, we witness Rowan’s ascension and all about her and her mate Demetri. Their story is quite cute, and while at the end of book one you get a snippet of how their story started, this book dives more into it (obviously).
We will get to meet more characters that have been mentioned before. I always love to me meet more characters, but I love how Joci tied them all into the story.
By the time you’ve read this post, I have no doubt that I’ve already read at least the next one! I’m freaking hooked and I want to help them takedown Dora. But I’m not a witch, maybe a…. Well Nevermind. I’m just not a witch.
*Note - this is not a standalone! You will want to read the first book before you read this one!
